Python Scripts

In class we're starting to program tools that we could use in Maya using Python.
Here are a few ideas of what I had in mind:

*1. Create randomly distributed objects (simulate debris)
*2. Create 4 planes of varying sizes.
3. Translate selected objects and clear history.
4. Translate selected verticies.
*5. Create a small room (four walls and a floor).
6. Select Faces and insert subdivision
7. A tool to combine selected objects, delete history, and place pivot below center
8. An interface to hold the tools I create.
9. A tool to planar map multiple pieces on the Z-axis.
10. A tool that creates a twisted plane (for particle trails).

Attract Trailer Research

We're finally moving into the attract trailer for our class racing games!

I found this one from DiRT 3 to be quite successful, especially in the beginning. It showcases the cars quite nicely in the beginning and has a really cool opening shot for the map they're racing on.

Character Progress!

Just some progress on my character!
I'm doing a mix between handpainting and phototextures to see what result I get.

I'm also attempting bakes for the first time!

3D Coat

Handpainting is fun!

Well.. it's always been fun for me. It's a really relaxing process and it's one I hope to do more of in the summer. Here are two projects I started.

Personal project. I don't know what it's going to be yet, but it's a pedestal of some sort.

And here is a head I started for my character for Class. It's REALLY quick (like 15 mins...) and was mainly for getting used to working in the program.

More on Topology

Heres just an update on my character.

I'm trying to get his edge flows to be more correct and flow better. This is a major improvement from the original zremesher job!

Also, Quad Draw is the best thing ever.

Here is a spliced image:

UI Design

In programming we're starting UI Design. Coming from a slight Graphic design background.. I can surely say that I'm having tons of fun with this assignment!

The UI is designed for our racing game and will be the information Overlay for our levels.

The first step of the assignment is to find a speedometer that is used in the cars we modeled.
I did a Camaro ZL1.

Here ya go!

I also enjoyed this speedometer design...

I wanted to incorporate shape languages such as these in my UI design.

...and here is my take on my UI HUD for my game! (the first pass anyways..)
